RFID with a Punch from a Distance

alt text

RFID is magic - wave a card in front of a little black box and doors open for all to pass. It can be a daunting technology to learn, but we've put together a simple tutorial and resource page that will touch on what RFID technology is and how it works. Then, we'll put together a work punch clock system very "Qwiic-ly". Parts used are our Artemis Nano, SAM-M8Q Chip Antenna GPS, and our Qwiic RFID Kit. You'll wave a card and lock in the position and time you punched in with. After we build the foundation, the sky's the limit of where you could take this project for your own uses. Hang on and enjoy the ride!

RFID Beginners Tutorial

June 15, 2020

In this tutorial we'll revisit some RFID basics and practice by making a remote work logger using an RFID reader and a GPS module. You'll scan a card and get ID, location, and time. All the perfect data to punch in and punch out from the middle of Nowhere!

If you are interested in learning more about RFID and how to build your own systems, take a look at our RFID page.
